The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority was established in 2004 with the objective of promoting and developing the emirate as a preferred tourist destination among world travelers. Since its establishment it has taken a number of initiatives to promote Abu Dhabi under a common theme as a luxurious destination with beautiful ‘Sun, Sand and Beaches.’ ADTA is responsible for tourism marketing, infrastructural and product development and in regulating the tourism industry’s licensing and classification procedures. The Authority actively promotes Abu Dhabi in international exhibitions, conferences and seminars. Working in close coordination with major players like Etihad Airways, the tourist industry is gearing up to attract large number of business and leisure visitors. The Authority aims to attract up to three million visitors annually by 2015.

In order to provide world-class travel, accommodation and attractions the Authority has consistently attracted huge private sector investments to fuel tourism projects. It is also presently overseeing maintenance and restoration of several archaeological and historical sites. The Authority is headquartered in Abu Dhabi city, and it is steered by an advisory committee that comprises local and international experts.
