This annual festival celebrates the importance of the ‘ship of the desert’ in Emirati society and includes the world’s only camel beauty contest.

This year’s event, now in its sixth edition, sees an increase in the total value of prizes contested, with more than AED 46 million (US$ 12.5 million) to be won. The number of rounds in the Mazayna (camel beauty) contest has been increased to 70, compared to 56 in the previous edition and 42 in 2010.
