Set up in July 2003 with the twin objective of creating an airline that would bear the United Arab Emirates flag and extend true Arabian hospitality to the country’s guests, Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi’s award-winning national airline, launched its inaugural flight in November 2003 and hasn’t looked back since. The airline currently flies to over 45 destinations across Europe, Asia, Australia, the Middle East and North America, with plans to reach 70 international destinations by 2010.
Etihad Airways has done away with the conventional designations of economy, business and first class, and has instead implemented three Guest Zones – Diamond, Pearl and Coral. The Diamond Zone offers guests unmatched luxury, with more than six feet of space, a luxurious environment, state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment and signature cuisines, in addition to exclusive chauffeur-drive service at both ends of the journey, quick and easy check-in and personal attention all through the flight.
The Pearl Zone offers travelers similar luxurious seating, extensive entertainment options, ambient mood lighting and signature cuisine. Guests in the Coral Zone will enjoy spacious seats, a selection of classic cuisines and numerous entertainment options with the airline’s advanced audio-video-on-demand system.
As a tribute to its first-class and warm service across guest zones and its luxurious environment, Etihad Airways won the World’s Leading New Airline of the Year Award for 2004, 2005 and 2006 and also the World’s Leading Flatbed Seat Award in 2006, awarded by the World Travel Awards.
