Falconry enjoys a prominent role in UAE’s heritage, and was traditionally a sport enjoyed only by the sheikhs. These beautiful birds – falcons - are an integral part of UAE traditions and appear on every currency note in the emirate. Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) organises various competitions and beauty contests for falcons every year where visitors have the opportunity to see these fine birds up close. The UAE government spends AED 100 million every year for their preservation and to build public awareness on these endangered species.

For those travelling between the months of October and May (hunting season), they can attend one of Dan Daman’s evenings which are usually organised as part of the Arabian Desert Evening. Dan is an expert in falconry and gives short talks and demonstrations about the art. For others, the Emirates Falconry Club and Heritage and Bedouin Village occasionally have falconers demonstrating the art.

For more information, call up Mr. Dan Daman on +971 50 643 0990.
