Step back in time at Al Maqta'a Museum, where the echoes of Abu Dhabi's foundational story resonate within the walls of the beautifully restored Al Maqta'a Fort. Once serving as a guardian overseeing the passage to Abu Dhabi Island, this site displays centuries of defence and development. The museum, within the fort, was originally a key customs house built in the 1950s to safeguard entry to Abu Dhabi Island, and stands within the historically rich Al Maqta'a Conservation Area.

The museum is a testament to the region's shared heritage. It invites visitors of all ages to explore exhibits featuring police memorabilia, enjoy interactive programmes, and immerse themselves in the living history of Al Maqta'a, all while enjoying modern amenities like charming cafes and a children's play area.

The Al Maqta'a police museum in Abu Dhabi is located less than 20 minutes from Zayed International Airport. Entrance to the museum is free for all.
